How I got here

This one is for you Lee.

I got here through JET programme. Finland seems to be the only Scandinavian country that gets to participate. That would be YEY for me, since I got accepted.
One other thing, it seems that there really isn't that many applicants to begin with. I mean, this year 4 applied the position and I am quite certain I was the only girl.@_@;;
And to all people out there I was NOT chosen because of my Japanese ability but my personality, which makes this whole thing even scarier, especially if you know what I am alike.
I hear that there was at least two people with 1st level Japanese ability taking part. Extra not: I got to speak with one of the interviewers and he told me a bit about the interview strategy and what they were actually looking for + he told me that one day he will tell me what went wrong with the other applicants.

I never actually went to the interview. The season in Lapland was at its peak, nearest airports were 3 and 5hours away, train station 2hours away. 1006km (625miles) between me and Helsinki. It would take 16hours to drive one-way. You can probably see why I had to write to them and say it is not on!!
They were really nice at the embassy and told me they would set up phone interview! How cool is that? Mind you, they only did it because there are so few applicants in Finland.

So now I'm in Izumo City in Shimane. Nice place. A bit too hot to my taste but I will survive.

Let's Start Again/ Aloitetaan Alusta

Just to remember my time in Japan this time, I decided to start this thing all over again. I'll do it in both Finnish and English, so that my parents and friends from Finland can also understand it.
Note to those who speak both languages: This is NOT a piece of translation, so the content might vary.
I'm at work at the moment, so I really can't write that much yet, but hopefully I'll get my home internet connection up and running by next month. Then I can share my stupidity of Japan with you.=)

Good luck to me trying to be responsible and write here after this.

Rain and Melonsoda

I was walking from Daiei to Portliner the other day when it was raining and realized that during certain type of rain Japan smells like melonsoda!
I think Japanese really should export melonsoda! Although, the colour is a bit too green to be healthy...I think the European laws about colouring would make it impossible to sell it in Europe. Soooooo greeeeeeeeen. It really isn't healthy.

Tickets

YAY!!!! I CAN FLY HOME!!

I'm sooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was very unhappy last Friday, but the nice lady at the Finnair office made it all better today by calling and telling me that she has a flight for me on 15th of August!!!!!!!!! This means that I can actually spend some time at home, before I fly to Britain!!

This whole mess with the tickets is all Kilroys (travel agency for students) fault!! I'm never going to use them again! Actually, I have sworn this same thing about 2 years before, too, when Kilroy fucked up one of my flights to Britain and I almost didn't make it on time to Uni. My parents got the ticket for me since I was too busy making money in Britain (if you can call working in a supermarket making money), to actually care which travel agency my parents were using.

My original date of departure was 1st of June and it was all Kilroys fault that this whole thing dragged on, because if they'd told me month ago to go Osaka to get my ticket changed, I would have had no problems getting a flight back in August.

Now, I have a flight on 15th of August and I can spend over 2WEEKS at home!!!! HAPPYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

I also got a ticket from Ryanair!! £18 (Y3600)!!!!!! Those bastards are charging for check-in luggage too!!! £2.50!!! What the fuck is that!?!?!?! Trying to make the poor students poorer!!
But it was a cheap ticket. I think KLM discount ticket on the Net is more than £100 with tax. I can't remember is that a price for return or one-way. It really doesn't matter, since Ryanair is still cheaper!!!

Now I need to go hunting a £1-ticket for the bus ride from London to Sheffield.

Fire-alarms

One thing I really hate about living in dorms is that there are sooooooooooooooooooooo many unnecessary fire alarms!!!!

Japan isn't as bad as Britain but god, does my head hurt every time we get a fire alarm. It wouldn't be a problem, if it were a normal house, since you can just take the batteries out or fan the alarm for a while to make the hideous noise to stop. But it has to be so difficult in dorms! It takes at least 15minutes for the fire-engines to get here. Which I think is quite long, since the fire-department is about 5minutes by foot from the dorm. And of course being Japanese they have to make an overkill and send a minimum of 4fire-engines.

Finished KH2...was disappointed by the secret ending...really doesn't make me want to play the next one. But I will buy it, since I'm an idiot! And I'll never play KH2 again!!! except the American version and maybe few times the part where Axel dies, since I did remember to save my game there!=) I really love to watch him die...smth about that red-hair...and green eyes...+the fact that he's confessing his undying love for Roxas!=D

I'm really tired and should have gone to bed, like 7hours go, but as always, I got lost on the net...I wonder am I going to make it for my 4th period tomorrow (which is actually today)

KH2

Sooooooo.....
Had to start the fucking KH2 from the beginning AGAIN! I have now seen the Twilight Town (which I still, after playing more than 100hours, keep calling Traverse Town) part of the game 5times and I really hate it! Fell very sorry for Roxas though. Mostly because on my first time playing I kept calling him Sora. Since remembering something as difficult as ロクサス was impossible for me! Fear not, I learned it!! Hey, I even learned the spelling in English. The reason for the new start was the standard modes mini-games that are horribly difficult.
I suck terribly with mini-games....especially the poster thingy was terrible!!! But Nami did that for me, so I didn't need to stress myself over it!! LOVE YOU Nami!
Yes, now I'm playing the game on the expert mode and die every time a large bunch of normal enemies attack (thankfully again I have Nami to kill those again!:D), but I have no difficulties with the big bosses.

HEH, been also event skipping, since I don't see why I should be listening the oh-so-terrible Mushu of the Japanese version! I SO love Eddie Murphy's voice and the poor seiyuu in Japanese just doesn't compare!!=(
There are things that I DON'T event skip, like whenever Axel makes an appearance...such a lovely red hair...

Met my new neighbour today too! Seems more friendlier than the previous one that I didn't even meet until I had been living on the Poor Island for 3months. Heard later that she's working on her thesis, so she only leaves her room for university and for food around 2am (this last remark is my observation, since I seemed to bump in to her there on quite many occasions, which makes me question my healthy living rhythm...

I wish it would get warmer here already. Don't want to waste money on the heater anymore!! But when it gets warm, it's going to start raining. I've heard that June is nothing but rain...I would wish that the rainy season would skip this year, but the weather has been goddamn awful lately that I'm inclined to go back to rainy Britain to escape all the rain I get here. I'm certain it rains more here, but I'm positive the statistics would show me wrong!O_o

Got a fridge from my neighbour! Mie is soooooooo nice to me always!! She let's me talk to her in my crappy Japanese and corrects me when I'm wrong and explains everything to me with so much patience. Bless her!! She gave me hers, because the earlier mentioned ghost neighbour gave her big fridge to her and moved out (either in Kobe or then went to back to South-America).
I'm so happy about that fridge!!! Now I can buy all kinds of things (mainly desserts), since I'm a bit skeptical towards the communal fridges, mostly because food items mysteriously disappears from it! I do freely admit that on more occasions than one I have borrowed someone else's butter but I have NEVER eaten others food! I still remember Huong's face when someone ate her expensive ice-cream before she even get to taste it!!

I also think the garlic in my kitchen cupboard is growing but I dare not to check. Smells nice though...
